The situation that demonstrates an ethical concern related to workplace productivity involves monitoring personal internet use to prevent distractions. This practice raises ethical questions surrounding privacy and consent. In a workplace setting, employees generally have an expectation of privacy, even when using company resources. Monitoring their internet activity can lead to a breach of trust between employers and employees, as it may feel invasive and hinder open communication.

Moreover, while the intent may be to enhance productivity by reducing distractions, organizations must balance this aim with the ethical responsibility to respect employees' personal space and autonomy. Ethical dilemmas arise from the need to ensure that monitoring is transparent, consensual, and proportionate to the risks it aims to mitigate. Thus, this situation highlights the critical intersection of productivity and employees' rights to privacy in the workplace.
